Is coring safe in an occupied building?
Yes. Cores are placed to avoid embedded utilities and rebar, drilled with water or dust control, and sealed cleanly when the cable is in.
Do you fire-stop the hole afterward?
Rated penetrations are fire-stopped to maintain the wall or floor rating. That step is part of the job, not an afterthought.
